a) Assessment of patient’s nutritional needs –
- A nutritional assessment is an evaluation of both objective and subjective data related to an individual’s food and nutrient intake, religion, sex, age, BMI, working pattern, lifestyle, likes and dislikes and medical history.
- We assess and evaluate the nutritional status of that individual. This assessment leads to a plan of care, which is designed to help the individual maintain the healthier status.
- Elements of the Assessment –
- The data for a nutritional assessment categorized in four ways –
- Anthropometric
- Biochemical
- Clinical
- Dietary
- Anthropometrics – Anthropometric measurements provide information on body, muscle mass, and fat. We are using a variety of anthropometric measurements which are covering the whole body or parts of the body – Bodyweight, height, BMI, waist circumference, measurement of body fat, waist to hip ratio, Broka’s index.
- Biochemical assessment – Laboratory tests based on blood and urine can be important indicators of nutritional status.
- Clinical assessment – Clinical data provides information about the individual’s medical history, including acute and chronic illness and diagnostic procedures, therapies or treatments.
- Dietary assessment – There are many ways to document dietary intake patterns of specific food consumed and estimated nutrient intakes. The accuracy of the data is frequently challenged, since both questioning and observing can impact the actual intake. The dietary prescriptions are made on the basis of the individual’s age, sex, activity, body weight and the type of treatment he / she is undergoing. Income, educational level, ethnicity should also be considered for diet prescription.
b) Tailor-made meal planning as per individuals’ requirement –
- Our dietary counseling is a combination of nutritional expertise along with psychological skills which are delivered by the trained dietitian.
- The likes and dislikes of the patient are taken into account; hence, it becomes easier for the patient to follow his / her dietary pattern and food intake.
- We consider their food habits, dietary patterns, religion, traditions, and customs while planning the menu.
- We get our patients rid of myths and misconceptions about foods, especially fads feed by media reports and advertisements.
c) To create awareness and teach how to read food labels on ready-to-eat and ready-to-prepare foods – The objective of our dietary counseling is to educate the patients regarding the nature of disease, its hazards, and how it can be recognized and prevented; advice on personal hygiene, instructions on diet, allowing them to understand the content of nutritional labels from packaged food items, which enables them to choose right.
d) Dine out options – We understand that the person who is undergoing nutritional counseling for a healthy regime or trying to get a permanent solution from some health issues is, after all, a human being and would probably wish to treat their taste buds once in a while.
We have a solution for that too!
Our Dine Out tips would be customized as per the individual’s condition. It depends on his/her food tolerance, conditions; availability of healthy food options as per the traditional food choices, and most importantly his\her food preferences.
Having said that, food preparation method plays a vital role in this. However, we recommend hygienic places.
